Eat Your Way to Beautiful Skin

Aug 31, 2016

Who doesn’t like to eat right? But did you know that by acting on a few sweet tips, you could eat your way to better skin? Most of us are all on the same never-ending pursuit of beauty. And while you know the Jeunesse Luminesce anti-aging skin care line restores your youthful glow from the outside, did you know that there is also a path to beautiful skin from the inside?

We’ve tracked down some great ways to help your body from the inside, out on your quest for perfect skin. Read on. Eat on!

Water each day keeps the dry away
You know well the age-old advice to drink 8–10 glasses of water daily and there truly is something magical about those numbers. By maintaining this intake level, you hydrate your skin and effectively smooth out wrinkles and plump up dry skin. It’s important to hydrate from the inside and then lock in the moisture by using a good moisturizer on the outside—which creates a physical barrier to keep moisture in.

Almond Joy
Snacking on raw, unsalted almonds will give you a boost in vitamin E. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant which helps prevent cell damage and nourishes your skin. Almonds also contain biotin, needed to maintain healthy fatty acids in the skin that keep it soft and supple, and copper, which helps prevent free radical damage.

Dry skin’s best friend
If you have super dry skin, then you’ll want to make friends with berries and avocados stat! Berries such as blueberries, blackberries and goji berries are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that provide significant protection for your skin from the environmental damage that leads to fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging. Avocados provide omega-9 fatty acids which help reduce irritation and redness and also help protect your skin’s natural moisture barrier. And, according to the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, the polyunsaturated fatty acids found in avocados guard skin from sun damage and protect against skin sensitivity and inflammation.

Have a little too much shine?
If you’ve got a problem with oily skin, be sure to stay away from processed and fried foods. The harmful oils contained in fried fare will only encourage your skin to secrete more oil. Processed grains and refined sugar are pretty strong acne aggravators also. Instead, be sure to eat loads of low-glycemic foods such as asparagus, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts, cucumbers, kale, summer squash, tomatoes and green beans. When eating grains, opt for lower glycemic barley, brown rice, quinoa and oats.

Let Luminesce® restore your youthful vitality and radiance from the outside, but if your food regimen needs a face lift (see what we did there?), then look to food to save your face, from the inside.

Remember, you are beautiful from the inside, out!
